SAMBA-WISE CHRONICLES

Bezerra da Silva was always a good-humored chronicler of life in the hills of Rio de Janeiro. But his stories, rich in local flavor and inspired by everyday reality, contain universal elements that allow us to talk about life’s situations and laugh at them well beyond the context of the favelas.

SAMBA-WISE CHRONICLES is a series of five standalone episodes, based on songs by Bezerra da Silva. Full of swing and rhythm, these brief comic anecdotes are adapted to more universal situations and settings, without losing the streetwise flair of the sambas that inspired them. Working in a farcical tone, the stories deliver a naive, almost innocent humor, in tune with the work of the theater company Os Melhores do Mundo.

The series was conceived by director Bernardo Palmeiro and comedian Jovane Nunes, founder and member of the comedy company Os Melhores do Mundo. The scripts are written by director Bernardo Palmeiro, Jovane Nunes, and Adolar Gangorra. The soundtrack is by multi-artist Ricardo Siri, with the opening theme composed by Siri and Gabriel Moura.
